The Adult Resocialization Unit (1035ARU) is an medically supervised unit of Phase: Piggy Back, Inc. ARU’s targeted population is African American/Latino-American, males and females, 18 years and older who reside in the five boroughs and are currently abusing any mind altering substance (including methadone and alcohol).

ARU is geared towards the empowerment of the Striver/Client population through a process rightfully called Resocialization. The Resocialization process consists of: Individual Counseling, Group Therapy, Relapse Prevention Groups, HIV/AIDS Education, Pre-vocational Workshops, Total Health and Nutrition Enrichment, Cultural Awareness Groups, Acupuncture, and Adult Basic Education/GED Classes and Computer Literacy Courses.

ARU realizes that once you remove a Striver from a life style of drug abuse and poverty, you must replace them with life skills for empowerment, so they can be assets to their communities. ARU has a staff of ex-addicts, professional and college trained individuals dedicated to the cause of Resocialization.
